Guitar Lessons

John started playing guitar at the age of 15 so he’s now been playing... for a long time!

“There were a few songs that I loved listening to and I had a real passion to learn how to play them. That’s where my guitar playing journey began. I now play guitar at my own gigs and haven’t stopped learning since the first time I picked up a guitar. Nowadays I mostly perform with an acoustic guitar on stage but have got extensive experience of playing electric rhythm guitar too.”

John offers lessons to people of all ages. Learning with John is best suited to beginners on acoustic or electric guitar, but he also offer guidance/refreshers to established players too.

There are lots of resources available on the web but when it comes to learning a musical instrument you can’t beat having a tutor on hand to answer any questions you might have and also to pick up on any bad habits that might creep into your playing technique.

As well as face to face lessons John also provides materials such as videos and backing tracks that will help you get playing as soon as possible. You’ll be able to access these online to practice and keep developing away from the face to face lessons.

Do You Need to Know how to Read Music?

Not everyone that plays guitar needs to, or wants to, learn lots of music theory (by this we mean reading music from manuscript). It’s unavoidable to have to learn some music theory, as you’ll need to learn which chords work together and why. Whatever your goals are regarding musical theory/musical knowledge, John Halton can help.
